Welcome to McLean Marlins Swim Team!
The Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL) was founded in 1956 to sponsor competitive swimming and diving in and among the community swimming pools in that area of Northern Virginia contiguous to the District of Columbia, and to develop the children participating in this program- a love for the sport, advanced aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.
The success of NVSL and the Marlins is dependent on the volunteer support of many swimmers’ parents and friends. There are 102 teams in 17 Divisions in the NVSL.
For the new swimmers, welcome to the Marlins family. We look forward to another fun-filled, yet competitive, summer swim season. The season goes by quickly so be ready for some new fun this summer.
You must have a membership with McLean Swim and Tennis Association to be eligible to join the Marlins and Future Marlins. All MSTA member youth ages 6-18 are encouraged and invited to join the McLean Marlins.
Practice Schedule:
- Frequency: Practices occur daily.
- Timing: When school is in session, practices are held in the afternoon. Once school is out for the summer, practices transition to the morning.
- Age Groups: Swimmers are organized by age group, and each swimmer must practice with their peers since competitions are age-specific. Swimmers are not permitted to join practices in other age groups.

- 3:45pm -4:45 pm 13+ group
- 4:45 pm - 5:30 pm 8& under
- 5:30 pm - 6:30 PM 9-12
After School Ends:
Time Age Group
- 7:15 am – 8:15 am 13 and older
- 8:20 am – 9:20 am 11–12-year-olds
- 9:20 am – 10:15 am 9–10-year-olds
- 10:15 am – 11 am 8 and under
- 10:45 am - 11:30 am Futures
- 11:30 am - 12 noon Groups
- 4:45 pm- 5:30 pm Futures
- 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm Groups
- 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm T/TH Marlin Practice Option
